Kentucky's wine and spirits wholesalers safely and efficiently transport alcoholic beverages from suppliers to retailers, but we're not just logistics experts. We build brands, educate customers, generate tax revenue, and embrace compliance and responsibility. And we have an enormous impact on the Commonwealth's bottom line and our local communities. Established in 1935, the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Kentucky is the trade association proudly representing this dynamic industry in Frankfort and Washington, D.C.

$1.4 billion in sales

Last year in Kentucky, $1.4 billion of alcoholic beverages were sold at the wholesale level representing over 36,000 brands.

2,500 good-paying jobs

Alcohol wholesalers and distributors employ over 2,500 Kentuckians with an average annual wage of nearly $80,000.

$173 million in taxes

Alcohol wholesalers and distributors annually collect $173 million (and growing) in state excise taxes, in addition to millions of dollars in business taxes paid each year.

Brand builders

Wholesalers know their suppliers' products inside and out, allowing them to educate retail customers and drive sales through data, marketing, and product displays. We also pride ourselves on working with small wineries and craft distilleries to help get their operations off the ground and grow their brands.

Master mixologists

Wholesalers employ sales professionals, mixologists, and sommeliers who educate retail stores and bartenders, and develop wine and cocktail menus for hotels, events, bars and restaurants.

Compliance driven

Wholesalers play a critical role ensuring alcohol is safe for consumption, properly tracked, and ends up in the right hands. We also support SafeRide Kentucky and law enforcement education programs, and collect millions of dollars for state government that is used for public health and safety initiatives.
